Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

- Lead monthly and quarterly closing process of Middle East & Africa ledgers for GE business

- Full responsibility for the timely preparation and submission of monthly/quarterly management reports

- Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner

- Ensure compliance with GE account reconciliation requirements & identifies area to improve quality

- Perform variance analysis on Balance Sheet reviews with regional Business leaders

- Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management

- Facilitate the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities of external auditors

- Ensure FP&A team are receiving financial data and analysis as required

- Perform continuous assessment of the close process and process re-engineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period

- Conducting probationary reviews with staff and annual performance reviews to support staff development

Role Summary/Purpose

Responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial & operational internal controls, process simplification, & operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting & analysis. Intermediate level professional positions requiring subject matter knowledge & experience, more independence in problem solving & decision making. Responsible for departmental planning & budgeting. Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing & performance development.

Qualifications/Requirements

- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Finance and Accounting), Professional accounting qualification is an asset

- Minimum of 10 years related accounting experience with at least 3 years’ leadership role

- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and PowerPoint

- Excellent command of English

- Excellent communication & interpersonal abilities

- Experience of working in a shared services environment with sound understanding of global processes and transactional flows

Highly result oriented, ready to take challenges and able to work under pressure

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity

- Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation

- Ability to manage large sets of data with strong analytical skills

- Strong knowledge of Oracle Financials/SAP

- Ability to work and succeed within tight deadlines and closing peaks

- The ability to work independently with minimum supervision, a self-starter

- Ability to influence without authority and work collaboratively in a team
