Risk and Control Objective

“Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards. Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.”

Job Purpose

This function reports into the Country Treasurer & Head of Markets and is one of the three key functional positions within Treasury & Markets. It is a high level management position requiring a focused and independent approach to achieving best practice criteria in the management of the function whilst maintaining a balanced interaction with the other two key areas of Treasury & Markets. The incumbent is expected to operate with business flair and actively contribute towards the overall business strategy of Treasury. The function is implicitly aligned with the corporate and business banking team and also carries responsibilities for retail Treasury activities either directly or through internal interface customers. Management and development of the Treasury FX & Products function; Manage and co-ordinate with the team and line manager different Treasury Product sales activities; To become the preferred point of contact both externally and internally for Treasury FX & Products sales activities; To become the bridge between the interests of the corporate and commercial clients and the market place for Treasury products, strategies and Treasury solutions; Providing input and guidance to the rest of the Treasury Sales team; Exploring and defining the business opportunities in the Treasury FX & sales function. Receive customer complaints, record it and take all reasonable steps to resolve the complaint in the eyes of our customers.

Main accountabilities and approximate time split

Leadership and Staff Development 20%

Coach and monitor staff performance, build motivation and ensure continuous development of skill sets through both internal and external training. Foster a team culture driven by profitable repeat business from key clients and new business targets. Hire to resource the business efficiently. Identify key decision makers both internally and externally to Barclays and produce a clear revenue driven strategy for the business, tailored to client buying criteria, risk appetite and recognising all hurdles to closing transactions. Agree strategy with the relevant Relationship Management function through regular round table interface Oversee the client sales process & directly manage key strategic relationships, ensuring close alignment across the cross asset classes. Drive client entertainment, economic briefings and commentary, conferences, seminars and other interface to maximise business potential Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the Trading Desk to promote competitive pricing of all transactions, offering constructive feedback from clients and colour on upcoming pipeline transactions. Ensure that all policies and procedures and relevant credit limits are adhered to at all times; Compile an annual Treasury FX & Products Sales Business plan and ensure that regular monthly feedback on performance is available.

Strategy and Transformation 20%

Work with Legal Department and own the commercial negotiation of any needed documentation as required for Treasury products, working closely with other desks where the client will deal across asset classes. Formulate and adapt negotiation procedures, with input from other stakeholders (Risk Management, Relationship Management, Operations, Credit) to drive early closure and thereby maximise client trading. Stay abreast of developments across all financial markets as the basis for pro-actively updating clients and responding to any specific enquiries. Display a professional, knowledgeable and service driven approach at all times, delivering to deadlines set and contributing to brand development. Ensure sales backup is available to team members as required to support the smooth running of the business. Ensure appropriate measures are in place to backup all desks for both planned and unplanned absences Develop strategic business plan for treasury sales function in coordination with corporate and retail functions. Work closely with corporate function to enhance the corporate relation and achieve corporate satisfaction. Continuous customer interactions to access their treasury requirements and offering suitable treasury solutions. Appraise trading volumes and make treasury the preferred first customer choice. Work on launch different treasury products in coordination with line manager within group appetite to serve corporate clients providing them with the best market practice for their hedging requirements and ensure systems and operational process are flawless. Lead the work flow and own A-Z on-boarding process for Treasury & Markets clients Ability to transform the business into more sophisticated and profitable business within group appetite while meeting all regulatory requirements

Revenue and Business Development 40%

Grow the business through profitable corporate client relationships that will meet & exceed budgets set. Manage & guide the Treasury sales team in maintaining an evolving portfolio of potential new clients to supplement revenue from existing relationships. Work closely with the team to deliver customer focused, solution driven presentations to clients, supported by new product ideas. Oversee the iterative process generated by these presentations such that a win/win solution is ultimately delivered to the client for execution. Drive the pipeline production process, with an emphasis on continuous update for incorporation in a regular review of all client sales activity. Share the output with Corporate Banking Group to enlist support for credit lines required and identify other opportunities that haven't been captured Drive the new product development process through regular feedback to the team covering developing client trends and knowledge of transactions that have been successfully executed by other banks. Where necessary (liability side Interest Rate business) ensure that the Relationship Management function is appropriately appraised of all aspects surrounding the need for additional limits and provide additional information if necessary Lead the development of all Sales desk through determination of strategy, procedures, operational processes, marketing initiatives and any other aspect of client related transactions that produces value add and an immediate, medium or long term revenue impact. Deliver the agreed target for Egypt Treasury Sales. Ensure high level interaction with corporate and retail branches to ensure best business practice and wide coverage across the business spectrum. Ensure staff development through continued in house discussions and training as well as exploring opportunities for technical training and support from group.

Risk Profile 20%

Ensure business flows are within approved sanctioned limits and to optimize revenue. Proactively manage client risk exposures while adhering to local regulations and ensuring group regulations are adhered to. Safe Guard the bank from any regulatory breaches, by being abreast of all new regulations released, and identify risks arising from day to day activities. Ensure cross functional roles are clearly communicated and roles and duties are adhered to across all functions to ensure best practice.

Technical skills / Competencies

Effective structuring/analytical skills including a good track record and to provide value added solutions A Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable university, post graduate qualification is an asset; An effective leadership style with passion and commitment; A good in-depth knowledge of treasury products, services and strategies and back-office operations; A working knowledge of capital markets products. Experience in treasury product sales; Sound understanding of balance sheet and income statement analysis; 10+ years banking experience 5 of which should have been in a treasury environment; An understanding of financial risk management strategies and tools; A good general knowledge of other bank products in particular trade and structured trade finance, forfeit and investment banking products and structures.
