Litigation Manager

Advise their clients or employers on their legal rights and obligations. As advocates, they may represent companies in both criminal and civil court cases. Advice on labor relations, employee contracts, tax issues, suits against the corporation, employee injury, patents, and contracts with suppliers of raw materials. To be familiar with Anti-corruption polices, Marketing Practices, Fair Competition (“Antitrust”), Privacy, Anti-Discrimination, Trade Sanctions and Trade Controls, Capital Markets (Disclosure and Insider regulations, preferably to have a good background of pharmaceutical business, tax matters, trademark, copyright and infringement law. All will have some exposure to research, writing briefs and arguing before a judge (see Resources). Has a good experience in drafting and reviewing contracts. Represent Novartis Legal to outside stakeholders, in particular the government and industry associations. Directly handle legal issues related to business development, alliance management, litigation, corporate governance, and labor law. Directly negotiate agreements for the local organization, i.e., distribution agreements, licensing agreements, promotion agreements, etc. Limit litigation risk exposure, including risk derived from clinical trial issues and employee relations. Manage legal housekeeping (archiving of contracts, minutes of the local organization boards and shareholder meetings etc.). Ensure adherence to Novartis Outside Counsel Policy, develop the Country Outside Counsel Panel and manage external law firms. Manage Legal budget in relation to objectives.
Minimum requirements University degree and Bar admission
Extensive experience in legal practice (> 6 years) Preferably significant (> 6 years) experience in legal practice related to the pharmaceutical industry Proven ability to proactively provide insightful and timely legal support to stakeholders across a functionally and geographically-dispersed organization Excellent verbal and written communication skills Persuasive negotiator Strong leadership skills Sound experience in Pharma litigation Experience with corporate responsibility and with balancing global standards and local cultures
