Job Title: IT Specialist/IT Support Engineer
Job Description:
As an IT Specialist/IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the company’s IT infrastructure and providing technical support to employees. Your role will involve a combination of proactive system administration, troubleshooting, and end-user support to ensure the smooth functioning of our software development operations.
Responsibilities:
1. IT Infrastructure Management:
– Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components including servers, workstations, networking equipment, and peripheral devices.
– Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement necessary upgrades or patches to optimize performance and security.
– Conduct regular backups of critical data and ensure data integrity and disaster recovery preparedness.
– Collaborate with external vendors for procurement, maintenance, and support of IT infrastructure.
2. Technical Support:
– Respond to and resolve IT support requests from employees, both in person and remotely, in a timely and professional manner.
– Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues, escalating complex problems to senior IT staff when necessary.
– Provide guidance and training to end-users on software applications, systems, and security best practices.
– Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software licenses, and user accounts.
3. Security and Data Protection:
– Implement and enforce IT security policies, including access controls, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
– Stay up-to-date with emerging IT security threats and recommend appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
– Monitor network traffic and system logs for suspicious activities, promptly investigating and resolving security incidents.
– Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
4. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
– Document IT procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps to create a comprehensive knowledge base.
– Develop user-friendly guides and tutorials to enable self-help and enhance end-user productivity.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share technical knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
– Proven experience as an IT Specialist, IT Support Engineer, or similar role.
– Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including servers, networking, and storage systems.
– Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
– Familiarity with software development environments and tools.
– Solid understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
– Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
