When you think of food delivery in the MENA region, we’d be pretty surprised if talabat didn’t pop into your mind first! Since delivering our first order in Kuwait in 2004, we’ve grown quite a lot over the past 17 years.
Today, we deliver hundreds of millions of food orders, grocery items and other products per year, to our customers in nine countries throughout the region with more than 3,000+ employees! Our food delivery business works with over 27,000 brands and almost 50,000 branches, while our q-commerce concept, talabat mart, now delivers groceries to customers in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman Qatar, and the UAE in 30 minutes or less!

Role Summary
As the country’s Head of Logistics as a Service (LaaS), you will be responsible for promoting Talabat’s LaaS products, services and solutions while focusing on developing new and expanding existing accounts.
Primary responsibilities include developing a commercial pipeline, driving local strategy and growth whilst having full business unit ownership at the country level. It is expected that the selected candidate will lead his team in coordination with the regional logistics team and other stakeholders (marketing, legal, finance, logistics) to drive business relevant initiatives. Target management and commercial decision making authority will lay with this position, the country head must use all resources to address customer needs with appropriate solutions. Develop policies, procedures and best practices for LaaS operations and ensure these are implemented in all markets, track adherence and flag compliance failures.
You’ll be joining a dynamic team in a fast-moving environment. We are looking for experienced professionals with rich experience in the Commercial and Sales domain to represent Talabat to external customers/clients and partners.
What’s on Your Plate?
- Full ownership of end-to-end Logistics as a Service business (P&L, operations, commercial)
- Oversee overall operations, commercial, and pricing elements and lead local team to achieve all LaaS-related KPIs
- Build, maintain and own a strong relationship with partners key to business growth
- Develop a strategy for talabat’s engagement with our LaaS partners, including commercial strategy, contract management and key negotiations
- Implement initiatives to improve the overall way of working with our LaaS partners, to the benefit of all stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for the country: prioritize, and drive execution
- Handle country-wide reporting lines for LaaS, ensuring targets of new business relationships are met and expanding on current ones.
- Lead and facilitate meetings with last-mile clients for new business, renegotiations, and relationship management.
- Create the blueprint for standardised processes and systems across multiple zones and areas for the country.
- Standard setting and driving compliance of our partners, through contract management and audits
- Proactively develop new LaaS partnerships within the industry
- Focus on a value driven and competitively placed LaaS pricing strategy and support the annual budget process on pricing issues as needed
- Provide latest and relevant strategy, targets and initiatives related to LaaS operations, compliance and quality
- Develop policies, procedures and best practices for LaaS operations, track adherence and flag compliance breaches.
- Map partner pain points and develop workstreams to tackle them, creating waterproof partner support SOPs in the process
- Detail last-mile rider related processes for a 360 degree incident handling policy (rebounds, missing items, proof of delivery, compliance)
- Overview LaaS logistics performance and design initiatives to improve it (acceptance rate, fail rate, delivery times)
- Achieve north-star of automating LaaS operations management and minimize manual effort
- Work closely with the regional logistics team to implement learnings and leverage ideas
- Manage operational service levels (fail rate, times, etc.) to hit budgeted benchmarks.
- Work with stakeholders (marketing, legal, finance, logistics e.g.) to drive different initiatives as needed
- Work closely with regional logistics team to remove bottlenecks and enhance throughput
What Did We Order?
- Experience with general management and leading a business with proven track record of driving commercial growth.
- You have 6-8 years of successful commercial and business development experience, preferably in e-commerce, marketplace, or offline retail with P&L management experience. Experience in F&B is a plus.
- Whilst a university degree is considered the baseline, a go-getter mindset and ability to hustle is absolutely necessary.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to drive complex ideas and communicate to diverse people across markets and teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- You have strong organizational skills.
- You can work independently and know how to prioritize and problem solve.
