Officer, Marketing and Communication, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP)

Reports to: Assistant to Dean

Purpose: The job holder will work under the framework of the school communications strategy. He/she will support the school building awareness of its programs and achievements through relevant social media, branding, publications, events and research as requested.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Coordinate payments with senior manager, GAPP decision support
• Responsible for tripod, bridge at The American University in Cairo (AUC) and on campus branding and events publicity
• Liaise with different offices at AUC for event design and implementation
• Identify school events, trends and suggest improvements
• Draft memos/emails and invitations as requested
• Develop and execute social media strategy through platform identification, messaging and audience identification and research
• Identify new trends in digital marketing and recommend new methods to the school
• Liaise with the communication office at AUC
• Support with planning, marketing and logistics
• Support GAPP social media functions
• Promote school events
• Promote GAPP strategic theme and handle the GAPP newsletter by collating and updating all relevant data
• Promote GAPP publications
• Connect with the alumni office and GAPP alumni
• Handle off campus school promotion events
• Coordinate GAPP research material
• Perform any other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:

• Bachelor of Arts in business administration, communications or relevant field of study
• Masters of Arts is an asset

Experience:

• 5 to 7 years of experience in communications, marketing or relevant field

Skills:

• Excellent English writing skills
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop
• Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Windows Movie Maker and IMovie is considered an asset
• Excellent communication skills
• Takes initiative and works with minimum supervision
• Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
• Creative, team player and with problem solving skills
