Thomson Reuters is looking for an experienced journalist and a strong team leader to manage one of its specialist agency video products.

The position is a Lead Producer role for Reuters’ Middle East Report (MER) based in Cairo, Egypt.

We are looking for someone who is creative, with plenty of initiative and lots of flair. MER is a flagship video segment with a focus on the socio-economic, the personal and the lifestyle stories that go beyond the daily news headlines in the Middle East region.

The successful candidate will lead a small team, commissioning and producing stories from the Middle East for a regional and a global client base that includes broadcast and digital media outlets.

He will have strong news judgment and will be skilled at visual multimedia story telling. The role needs a dynamic personality – someone who has strong desk skills and can spot a good story.

The video news industry is going through a period of significant change, largely driven by technology and the rapidly changing habits of news consumers. The successful candidate will be very customer focused and will be able to tailor content for Reuters’ clients in the growing digital sector as well as existing broadcast news customers.

Plan and commission stories for Middle East Report (MER), working closely with regional bureau who are key contributors to the segmentWork closely with Reuters Text and Pictures colleagues in the region to plan and produce multimedia content Ensure stories meet the highest standards both for journalism and technical quality of the productionChampion high performers and hold staff accountable for performance

Qualifications & Required Skills

Solid experience in agency and-or broadcast television news gathering and productionProven track record of leading reporting teams, making sure team is motivated and enthusiasticStrong video editing and script writing skillsAbility to drive speed and accuracyGood understanding of the latest digital video technologies for filming, editing, transmitting and sharingFluent Arabic is a requirement alongside strong English language skills.Knowledge and commitment to defend Reuters Trust Principles
