Job Description



The role



The Director of Program Development and Quality is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of high quality, innovative programs, in all settings and contexts, that deliver immediate and lasting change for children, ensuring the quality of programs implemented by Save the Children and our partners and ensuring that the learning we gain from implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs is incorporated into the development of future programs.



Qualifications and experience



Recommended a minimum of 5 years senior management experience in a corporate or an NGO environment, including experience directing and implementing programs for children in either development or emergency contexts, preferably with solid experience in more than one of the Save the Children priority sectors: education, protection, adolescent and youth empowerment, rights governance, and health and nutritionRecognized leadership role in relevant technical areas at both field and country levelMasters degree in Social Sciences or an area of social developmentA general appreciation of the issues concerning the NGO sector, both development and humanitarian issuesSolid experience of developing and managing monitoring and learning systemsGood analytical skills. Effective negotiator, with the ability to positively influence cross departmental and cross sector workingCredibility to lobby, influence and represent Save the Children at all levelsResource management, training , capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skillsAbility and willingness to work flexible hours when necessary, and work with incoming teams in emergenciesCommitment to and understanding of Save the Children's aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches as well as experience in promoting the principles and practice of child participation and accountabilityExternal communications skillsFluency in written and spoken English (essential) and Arabic (desirable)Familiarity with the Egyptian context (desirable)





Contract length: 24 months
