Microsoft Arabic Language Technology Development Team Director This position is based in the Microsoft Applied Research and Development Center in Cairo, Egypt. The center will be expanding its original applied research focus to include developing/integrating Arabic content services and Arabic language specific technologies for a wide range of Microsoft products. The new Arabic language support will be primary catering to the Arab countries regional and cultural requirements. We are looking for a technical leader of this team with a broad scope of experience, who can bridge the gap between product development and market responsibilities. He/she should enjoy the autonomy and ambiguity of startup environments, and creating new technical organizations Primary responsibilities include: Hiring and managing a diverse development team in Cairo Egypt across the different functions and grow their capabilities while driving the team to deliver on their projects responsibilities. Establish a strategy and plan to deliver product services of highest impact to the Microsoft business and image in the region Working closely with the Arab speaking countries' subsidiaries to understand the priorities and impact of the Arabic language technologies support to local businesses. Lead his/her team to collaborate with Microsoft product teams on transferring the team new technologies into Microsoft products that satisfy the company schedules and quality standards. Required Experience The successful candidate will have experience working with software development teams at Microsoft through a complete ship cycle. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the challenges of creating software that satisfies demanding Arabic language user requirements. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in working cross groups. Candidates with lead or management experience in a major Microsoft product team and/or specific experience working with sales and marketing teams are preferred for this position.
