As an Application Engineer, you will be a part of the Power grids Division and Transformers business unit based in Cairo. The Power Grids division is the world’s leading supplier of power and automation products, systems and service solutions across the power value chain of generation, transmission and distribution, enabling a stronger, smarter and greener grid. The division serves utility industry, transportation and infrastructure customers and is focused on addressing key areas such as the integration of renewable energies, growing network complexity, grid automation and microgrids. Tasks Your tasks as a Sales Specialist will include the following: The Application Engineer should be an expert of all the Business Units PGTR (Power Grid Transformer) product applications for a given sector. He/she supports from a pure technical point of view the Local Sales management team for the Marketing and Sales activities of the Business Unit and represents the interests of the Power Grid/Business Unit in the given Country/Region. He should cover certain markets by interacting with existing Customers as well as with “Customers we aspire to have” by providing appropriate technical support (ideally influencing technical specifications at early stage) while reinforcing product applications positioning. His / Her contribution should bring medium-long term results as he will support the sales team at the pre-tender stage, through conceptual discussions aimed at: Understanding specs and norms Squaring away doubts and misinterpretations Influencing technical specs Demonstrating technical leadership He/she should carry out technical meetings at early stage and organize the preliminary technical discussions with local Customers focused on specific topics to be held by him / her or more-detailed technical workshops. He/she should cover assigned regional markets but not only the hosted country market.
Requirements Ideally the person for this role should possess: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in technical department (R&D, Electrical Engineering or Design) and/or Project Manager and/or Product Marketing, Sales and Business development in the assigned sector(s) and had better associated with transformer businesses. Strong technical skills, in addition to the marketing experience, to be able to bridge the technical teams to the marketing teams in the company Solid background or at least a proven experience within the assigned sector BS degree (Electrical Engineering) from an accredited university. A Master’s degree in B2B Marketing would be a plus. Should have Intercultural sensitiveness, with good communication skills in oral and written, with colleagues from multi-countries for assigned region. The person had better have global experience in the past and a strong grasp of the English language; ideally he / she should speak multiple languages. Should be willing to travel > 50% of his / her time.
