Position Summary

Provides technical project management leadership and problem solving support for polymer product development and manufacturing cost reduction projects. Leads cross-functional teams which include R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, Engineering, Quality and Sourcing functions.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide technical and general project leadership / management to multi-functional teams pursuing manufacturing improvements and new product development. Define existing manufacturing process capabilities and constraints. Provide type equipment expertise for manufacturing problem solving. Investigate/recommend/execute/validate new process technologies to continually improve equipment capabilities and lower costs. Lead new product development in all stages, from laboratory prototype development to production trials in the manufacturing facility. Actively participate in D/P FMEAs and process optimization sessions. Work with outside material and equipment suppliers, consultants, internal resources, etc. as needed. Investigate, recommend and validate material improvements and cost reductions. Manage direct reports as assigned. Assist Human Resources and Department Managers in training personnel on principles of polymer processing and injection molding processes. Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering with a specialization in polymer processing. Minimum years of Experience: Five years in manufacturing polymer based products with injection molding. Proven ability to analyze and solve manufacturing problems and continually improve injection molding processes. Six-sigma and related quality management and problem-solving tools. Polymer analytical techniques, including high temperature viscometry. Knowledge of safe use of common industrial and lab chemicals.
